#84: Back In Black, AC/DC

Okay, this whole album is perfect. There’s not a bad song on it. There’s just no other way to say it.

I’ve always loved AC/DC but because I’m a Fake Fan, I had no idea that lead singer Bon Scott died of alcohol poisoning pretty much immediately before AC/DC started recording this album. They spent a few days mourning and considered breaking up, but instead hired Brian Johnson and made one of the best albums ever. Apparently, the “Black” theme is in honor of Scott’s death.

I got to this one and immediately felt the injustice. THIS one should be higher. It is an insult to Bon Scott AND Brian Johnson to have this as #84. Also, I just love famous Australians.

FAVORITE SONGS:

“Hells Bells” — Ask not for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for AC/DC. — John Donne

“Shoot To Thrill” — This album is a little like a Ramones album, where every song is pretty much the same but it’s the best song you’ve ever heard.

“What Do You Do for Money Honey” — Listen, it’s hard out here!

“Givin’ The Dog a Bone” — This one is one of my favorites. Brian Johnson has a wild, wild voice.

“Let Me Put My Love Into You” — WOW. Do you ever not consider how shocking a song is until you have to analyze it for your blog?

“Back In Black” — The best air guitar song of all time. DU! DUNU! DUNU! Dunewnewneerneernewneer.

“You Shook Me All Night Long” — This song feels like it’s as old as the beginning of time.

“Have a Drink On Me” — I just love all these shouty choruses.

“Shake a Leg” — The older I get, the more I relate to this song. They tell me what they think, but they stink and I really don’t care!

“Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution” — How lame and cheesy is it to say that this song gives me goosebumps? It just makes me happy! This is the best rock and roll anthem of all time and this is the best rock and roll album of all time.

LEAST FAVORITE SONGS:

None. None!

IS RS FULL OF IT?

ROCK AND ROLL AIN’T NOISE POLLUTION. ROCK AND ROLLIN WILL SURVIVE. YES IT WILL.

This is my new nomination for #1. Apologies to Marvin Gaye.

Review #83: Dusty In Memphis, Dusty Springfield

Review #85: Plastic Ono Band, John Lennon
